WOMEN’S DIVISION
RIMU BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Rimu Branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the hall, Mrs Cameron presiding over 19 members. It was decided to hold the picnic that had been postponed after the schools reopen. The competition winners were: Best bloom, Mrs H. Bulling 1 and 2; knitted article for a child, Miss M. Emerson 1, Mrs Carswell 2; article . made from material for a child, Mrs J. Cameron 1 and 2. The roll call was: “Uses of Stale Bread.” The hostesses were Mesdames J. Fisher and W. Stewart. MATAURA BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Mataura branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Oddfellows hall on Thursday afternoon. Mrs W. L. Scott presided over a good attendance of members. The president and Mrs Hocking were elected delegates to attend a combined meeting of delegates of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union and the Women’s Institute of Southland about the proposed resident A.C.E. tutor at Gore. His Worship the Mayor was present about the proposed rest room at Mataura. Members expressed their approval of the movement and promised their support. ... All members were requested to bring written suggestions for next years syllabus. These suggestions , will be handed in at the annual meeting.
