Four Visits In One

Nijilit

(United Press Association.) Carterton, September 19.

There were four burglaries at Carterton last night. The premises of the Wairarapa Daily News were entered by forcing a side door. All the drawers and desks were opened, the till was forced, the safe opened, and papers and documents strewn everywhere. Seven pounds in cash, and a cheque, were taken, besides railway stamps. The adjacent premises occupied by Mason and Company’s implement works, were also entered, but the safe was untouched, although about 30/- loose cash was taken. In the building of Wairarapa Motors entry was made through a small door in the main doors, the till was wrenched open, a show case smashed, and £3 17/- taken. The side door of Hughans, Limited was forced, the cash register smashed, and a smaller register opened without damage. About £6 was collected. Again, all the office files were strewn around.
