ALLIANCE WITH U.S.A.

VIEWS OF BRIGADIERGENERAL LLOYD

PASSENGERS BY THE MONTEREY (United Press Association.) . Auckland, September 20. With 329 passengers aboard the Matson liner, Monterey, arrived to-day from Sydney, after an uneventful trip. Harold Gatty the well-known American aviation expert, who is interested in the formation of a transpacific air service, arrived on a business visit. He will go to Wellington to-morrow.

Another prominent passenger was Brigadier-General H. W. Lloyd, a member of the Australian Legislative Assembly, who is visiting New Zealand in an attempt to form a branch of the new Peace Organization known as British-American Co-operation.

The idea behind this body, he said, was to make English-speaking peoples, and their governments, realize the necessity of forming an alliance with the United States, for mutual protection purposes. The European situation had been responsible for its formation in England and, since then, branches had been formed in America, Australia and other English-speaking countries. In Australia it had the approval, and official endorsement, of the Prime Minister (Mr J. A. Lyons). Mr Lloyd will visit Wellington, where he is to meet members of the Government.

Mr R. J. Anwyl, manager for Thomas Cook and Sons, Limited, in Australia and New Zealand, arrived on a business visit.
