Bluff OCEAN BEACH TENNIS CLUB

There was a satisfactory attendance at the annual meeting of the Ocean Beach Tennis Club. Mr N. C. Stewart (president) was in the chair. The annual report stated that the past season had been an enjoyable and successful one. Matches had been played with Bluff B and C teams, Makarewa and Woodend. The club ladder competition was keenly contested and resulted in a win for J. Lewis, with H. Mclvor runner-up. The balance-sheet showed that, after work at present in hand was completed, there would remain a credit balance of approximately £3O. The club had no liabilities. The court had been kept in excellent condition by members. A discussion took place on the need for an additional court, the matter being eventually left for further consideration.

As the club was in a sound financial position, it was decided to reduce the subscription rates. These will now be: Men, 5/-; women, 2/6; school children, 1/3. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Sir Robert Anderson (re-elected); president, Mr H. Mclvor; vice-presidents, Messrs G. M. Corbet, J. A. Stewart, G. C. Mitchell, R. Brown, W. Barnsdale, N. W. McGorlick and S. Dawson; secretary, Mr H. Low; treasurer, Mr N. W. McGorlick; committee, Misses J. Mitchell and V. McKenzie and Messrs A. Low and W. McGorlick. EUCHRE The weekly euchre tournament in aid of the Dominican Convent funds was well attended on Saturday night. The results were: Women, Mrs L. Mortimer 1, Mrs J. Miller 2; men, Mr W. Oxley 1, Mr M. Kelly 2; lucky number, Mr J. Woods. Prizes for the highest aggregates over the last six weeks were presented by Mrs P. Ford and Mr S. Mackay and these were won by Mrs E. Murphy and Mr L. Mortimer respectively. _______________
