REFRIGERATOR SHIP LAUNCHED
BRISBANE STAR “THE LAST WORD.” (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, September 17. The refrigerator motor ship Brisbane Star, of 12,000 tons, built for the Blue Star Line, was launched at Cammell Laird’s yard, Birkenhead. The vessel is 522 ft long, with a beam of 72ft. In the past 10 years the Blue Star Line has built 19 steamers, at a cost of over £7,000,000. The chairman of the company said that the Brisbane Star represented the last word in refrigerating equipment. He added that he could see a definite sign of recovery for the shipping industry.
