CUMBERSOME AWARDS

A STANDARD FORM SUGGESTED. (United Press Association.) Auckland, September 18. A statement that many existing industrial awards were extremely cumbersome and in great need of recasting was made in the Arbitration Court this morning. An Auckland lawyer, Mr Lisle Aiderton, said that there were many instances of awards being cluttered up by annual additions to what was frequently an ill-conceived structure in the original form. Many clauses were obsolete, but they were still retained. Some extraordinary clauses were inserted, childish in their objects and sources of irritation. 'He realized the difficulty of recasting, but suggested that the drafting of a form should be a matter for an expert draftsman attached to the Court. The president (Mr Justice Page) agreed, remarking that soon he would try to draft a standard form of award.
