GENERAL NOTES. The weather was very unpleasant on the waterfront yesterday and hampered discharging and loading operations on the two vessels in port, the Hertford and Waipiata. The former will remain in port for a few more days, and the Waipiata should complete and sail to-day for Dunedin. The Union Steam Ship Company advises that the Rangitiki sailed from London on September 17. She is due at Wellington on October 21. Advice has also been received that the Rangitata sailed from Colon on September 15. She left Wellington on August 27 for London. The Huddart Parker motor ship Wanganella is now scheduled to leave Auckland on Thursday, October 8, instead of October 9, and on that trip she will proceed to Melbourne as well as Sydney. The Wanganella is to leave Sydney to-day for Wellington, being due there next Wednesday. She sails the following day on her return passage to Sydney. The O. and O. Line steamer Golden West is now scheduled to leave Los Angeles on September 29, instead of October 1, with cargo from Pacific Coast ports for Auckland, Wellington and Australia She is due at Auckland about October 26.

The Union Company’s trans-Pacific cargo steamer Cape Horn was to leave Auckland for Wellington on Wednesday. She was due there yesterday and is to sail again today- to complete discharge of her Pacific Coast cargo at Bluff, Melbourne and Sydney. She will afterwards return to Vancouver, via Fiji. The Port Line steamer Port Fairy is not now due at Wellington from New Plymouth until Tuesday, and will sail on Wednesday for Lyttelton and Auckland, to complete Homeward loading. The A. and A. Line motor ship Ashburton arrived at Wellington on Wednesday from Auckland to continue discharging her New York cargo. She will leave again today to complete unloading at Lyttelton, Dunedin and Australian ports. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE.
