SEAMAN ORDERED TO BE DEPORTED. (United Press Association.) Auckland, September 17. As a sequel to a recent burglary in Arthur Eady’s music store, James John Hawkins, aged 18, this morning was convicted by Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, on a charge of receiving from two fellow seamen on the steamer Hertford a banjo and money of a total value of £3B, knowing them to have been stolen. He was ordered to be deported. “I understand they don’t want him on the ship,” said Mr Noble, appearing for the accused.
“Well, the shipping company will have to take him away on another ship. The Probation Officer will fix that up,” said the Magistrate.
