MONTHLY MEETING OFFICERS’ REPORTS At the monthly meeting of the Ohai Railway Board, the chairman (Mr L. S. Edmond), presided over Messrs W. Excell, E. Davis, G. Tinker, W. Crawford and G. Edie. The report of the general manager (Mr A W. Rodger) stated:— “Since the last meeting of the board there has been an increase in the quantity of coal hauled over the railway, compared with the corresponding weeks of last year, of 2504 tons.'The aggiegate increase in coal haulage for the expired portion of the financial year, compared with the same period in 1935-36, is now 16,167 tons. Consignments of coal to stations within Southland from January 1 to August 31 show an increase, as compared with the same months last year, of 2416 wagons.” The traffic manager (Mr R. Donnelly), in his report, stated:—• “The permanent way gang is working on the line between Reeds and the terminus, where the papa cuttings are still weathering badly and require frequent attention to keep the water tables clear. The length otherwise is in good order.” „ , _, The tender of William Smith and Co. Ltd., of Invercargill, was accepted for the supply of black butt sleepers.
