EUCHRE TOURNAMENT The usual fortnightly euchre tournament was held in St. Joseph’s schoolroom. The weather was cold and wet, but the attendance was good. The women’s prize, a case of afternoon teaspoons, was won by Mrs O. Stevenson. The men’s prize was won by Mr J. Downey and consolation prizes by Miss Alice McSoriley and A. McCormick. The hostesses for the evening were Mesdames J. Fraser, McGavin and P. T. Lynch. The music for the dance was supplied by Misses R. Powell, M. Lynch and M. McCormick. PERSONAL Mr G. Murchison is spending a few days in Invercargill. Mrs E. McLean, Dalefield, is on a visit to her daughter, Mrs W. Rooney, Balclutha. Mr R. Hood, of the steamer staff, who has been on annual leave, has returned to Queenstown. Mrs Norman Hall is on a visit to Wellington, where she intends spending some weeks. Mrs McKinley has returned home after spending a few days with relatives. Mrs Robert Climie, who has spent the winter in Dunedin, has returned to her home at Maori Point. Nurse Mary O’Connell, of the staff of the Nelson Hospital, is on a visit to relatives at Frankton. She was accompanied by her father, Mr J. E. O’Connell. > Mr T. Fitzpatrick, of Arthur’s Point, went to Christchurch for the races. Mrs Harold Knowles is the guest of her mother, Mrs J. Thomson. Mr R. Petrie, traffic inspector of the New Zealand Railways Department, is visiting Queenstown on departmental business. Mrs Duggan, of Blackball, who is a daughter of former Wakatipu residents, Mr and Mrs W. Mayne, is spending a holiday with her uncle, Mr W. Smith, and will leave for Timaru to-day. Nurse McLachlan, of the Lake County Hospital staff, who has been on holiday, has resumed duty. Mr McLaughlin, of Evan’s Flat, who was accompanied by Messrs W. Fahey, Colgan and Hart, of Lawrence, spent a day at Queenstown. Mr John Ingle is visiting Invercargill
