Woodlands CHURCH CONCERT

Members of St. Peter’s Methodist Church Choir, Invercargill, travelled to Woodlands to stage a concert in aid of the Woodlands Presbyterian Church funds.

The choir, led by Mr Hensley, opened the programme with anthems and glees, which were well received.

The following items were contributed: Duet, Mrs Reid and Miss M. Patton; chorus, “Roll Along Prairie Moon” (soloist, Mr Berridge); recitations, Mr Craig; quartette, “Old Mother Hubbard” (Mesdames Mercier, Reid, West and Bell); solo, Mr Farley; trio, “On a Sunday Afternoon” (Misses Hinton, Lee and Bemrose, soloist); chorus, “Red Sails in the Sunset” (soloist, Miss Haydon); recitations, Mr Dale; chorus, “Sing Before Breakfast”; solo, Miss Haydon; playette, “The Blind Mice” (Misses M. Paton, M. Hinton and Mrs J. Bell); solo, Mrs Mercier; chorus, “Goodbye” (soloist, Mr F. McLean). Community singing was conducted during an interval by Mr Farley. At the conclusion of the programme, the chairman (Mr E. Hargest) spoke appreciatively of the evening’s entertainment and thanked Miss Patton, who had arranged for the concert party.
