OBSTRUCTION ALLEGED
CONCILIATION PROCEEDINGS FOR CARPENTERS.
(United Press Association.) Wellington, July 21. “The requests made by the Employers’ Association for postponements of conciliation fixtures seemed to indicate that they are deliberately marking time,” said Mr M. J. Reardon, the Conciliation Commissioner, to-day, when applications were made to him for a postponement of the hearing of the dispute between the New Zealand Amalgamated Society' of Carpenters and Joiners and the Joiners’ Machinists’ Association of Workers and the New Zealand Federated Builders’ and Contractors’ Association of Employers. Mr Mountjoy, secretary of the latter association, Mr W. Mill its president, and Mr A. Fletcher all denied that the employers were deliberately obstructing tha Conciliation Council, and Mr Mountjoy explained that the delays were caused by an unprecedented pressure of work caused by the recent industrial legislation. After about an hour’s discussion, a fixture was made for August 6 and 7.
