Bluff Notes
Mrs S. Cuppies, Roslyn, Dunedin, is paying a visit to relations at Bluff. Mrs R. A. Ross, Bandon street, was hostess at afternoon tea on Thursday afternoon. Mrs E. Benfell, Bann street, is spending a few days at Mataura. A pleasant function took place at the residence of Mrs George Hicks, Burrows street, on Tuesday evening, when the members of the Bluff Musical Club gathered to bid farewell to two of its members, Miss F. Woods and Mr N. Carter, who are shortly to be married and are leaving the district. During the evening a musical programme was enjoyed, the following contributing:— Mesdames Jack Walker and E. Parsons, Misses Jen Connolly and Elsie Preston, Messrs W. Macdonald and N. Carter (songs); Mr W. Pickard (saxophone solo). Concerted items were given by club members. The accompanistes were Mrs J. Walker and Miss Dorothy Cahill. Competitions were held, the winners being Mr H. Burr and Mr J. Walker. The president of the club, Mr G. Hicks, asked Miss Woods and Mr Carter to accept an electric jug from the members, expressing regret at their departure and wishing them happiness in their married life. Speeches were also made by Messrs W. Pickard, E. Parsons, H. Burr and W. Macdonald. Mr Carter responded on behalf of Miss Woods.
