COOPER’S CORNER
VISIBILITY TO BE IMPROVED Within the next week or two Cooper’s corner, the well-known intersection of the North and Riverton roads, should be more or less free of the visibility dangers which have existed at this spot for some years. The Southland County Council has been negotiating for the purchase of portions of the comers on the intersection, and at yesterday’s meeting it was reported that satisfactory values had been placed on two of the three corners to be purchased. The price for the third was considered exorbitant, and it was decided to make an offer for the land required. Portion of the fourth corner had already been handed over to the council by the Hospital Board. When negotiations are finalized, the fence lines will be moved back a convenient distance, and no trees or hedges which might impair the visibility of vehicular traffic will remain. , This comer has always been a source of danger to traffic, and motorists and others will appreciate the removal of the dangers. It is not proposed to widen the roads at the spot in the meantime.
