CONCESSIONS FROM SANCTIONS

ASSISTANCE FOR YUGOSLAVIA. BRITAIN FULFILS OBLIGATIONS. (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, February 10. In reply to a question in the blouse of Commons about concessions granted to Yugoslav exports of poultry, eggs and bacon, under the imposition of sanctions against Italy, the Secretary to the Department of Overseas Trade (Captain Evan Wallace) said the assistance was given in view of the exceptionally heavy loss of • exports—over one-fifth of her total exports—which Yugoslavia was likely fo suffer as a result of the application of sanctions. The Government had felt bound to accede to the Yugoslav application for assistance out of respect for British obligations under Article 16 of the League of Nations Covenant. Captain Wallace said he could make no definite statement about possible requests for assistance from other countries.
