ASSAULT IN GORE. LABOURER CHARGED. Though he did not appear, John Barry, of Conical Hills, a labourer, entered a plea of guilty when he was charged in the Magistrate’s Court at Gore yesterday with assaulting a man in Main Street on Saturday evening. Mr R. Fisher, J.P., was on the Bench, and Sergeant Fryer represented the police. Constable Feehly gave evidence that he had seen Barry strike a young man three times. Barry had had some liquor. Tire young man retaliated, but he had had no drink. The Bench convicted the accused and fined him £l.
