NEED FOR ACCURACY
NAMES ON COURT PAPERS.
REMARKS BY JUDGE. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, November 6. “Some of these men are pretty casual when they don’t even know their five’s names,” remarked Mr Justice Biair in the Supreme Court when he was asked to amend divorce papers in which the Christian name of the female respondent was wrongly stated. It appeared that petitioner had instructed his solicitor that his wife’s name was Annie, the name by which she was generally known. When the marriage certificate was produced, however, it was found that the woman had four Christian names and Annie was not one of them. Counsel explained that respondent had herself given him the name Annie and he had acted for her under that name. In granting the amendment, his Honour referred to the necessity of papers being accurate and said that trouble would have been experienced if the error had not been discovered and amended.
