HEALTH STAMPS
STEADY SUPPORT FOR MOVEMENT. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, November 5. The steady support of the public for the health camp movement centring round the sale of the twopenny health stamp has put fresh heart into the organization concerned. The fourth week of the campaign was restricted by the inclusion of Labour Day,, a collector’s holiday when the post offices were closed, but the thousand pound a week average of the preceding periods was again nearly achieved. The total announced by the Director-General of the Postal Department (Mr G. McNamara) for the end of the period was £3988 19/7, comprising receipts from sale of stamps £2119 7/7, envelopes £220 10/-, and donations £1649 2/-. District totals to date are as follows:
The time is approaching when the health camps are to be opened and the public response to the appeal this year is encouraging most of the committees to plan extensions of their work by taking larger numbers of undernourished children into these, camps to enjoy a holiday during which their diet, their rest and recreation will be carefully* supervised and the foundations laid for better health when they return to their homes.
