TRADE NEGOTIATIONS
CANADA AND AMERICA. PROSPECTS OF AGREEMENT. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Washington, Nov. 5. Acceleration of reciprocal trade treaty negotiations between the' United States and Canada is expected as a result of a visit by Mr Mackenzie King, Prime Minister of Canada, on Thursday. He will remain through Saturday. On Friday he will be received at White House and will be the overnight guest of the President and Mrs Roosevelt.
Although no official disclosures have been made it is assumed that trade will be one of the principal topics of conversation between the President and the Prime Minister. As the Bennett Government had already made considerable progress with trade negotiations it is thought possible that the conclusion of a treaty will be announced in two or three weeks.
Whether the prospective treaty will conflict in any way with the Ottawa agreements, and if so how the matter may be adjusted in London, is the principal point of speculation here in anticipation of the Canadian statesman’s visit.
