CORRESPONDENCE
POLITICAL CONTEST.
To the Editor.
Sir,—How do you figure out rules of combat to test the power of a people over Government? In the above game one has to pay to enter the race, the usual procedure. In the field to-day are about 43 Independents who stand for the defined term of this word in the English language which means the social and civil rights of the people. Also we have the Liberals meaning Liberalism, the power of this word gives collective security of independence. Then Labour, meaning workers. I have not quoted “democrats” . because Independent Liberalism is the foundation of democracy, the substance and shadow. Now, would it not be more sport-like if all contestants were to start level in the line up? As it is, we have some helped along halfway; others carried the full distance, while the poor Independents start from scratch.—l am, etc., FAIR PLAY.
