SUBMARINE FLEET

MANOEUVRES AT GALAPAGOS ISLAND IDENTITY NOT ESTABLISHED. (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 6.30 p.m.) Gueyaquil, Ecuador, November 2. , Dispatches from the Galapagos Islands said that an unidentified fleet of submarines was manoeuvring near San Cristobel Island on Thursday night. The submarines are described as equipped with electric projectors and off Barrington Island was a ship of large tonnage, presumably the mother ship. Other despatches from Balboa said the submarines were not from the United States. It was suggested here that they might be Japanese. The Ecuadorean Government is unable to investigate because they lack an -adequate boat.
