JUNIOR TEACHERS
EMPLOYMENT SCHEME. ANNOUNCEMENT BY MINISTER. (Per United Press Association.) New Plymouth, November 2. The Minister of Education, the Hon. S. G. Smith, has announced that the following scheme for the employment of junior teachers had been approved for the year beginning on February 1, 1936: Students leaving the training colleges on December 31 next will be employed as probationary assistants at the ordinary schedule rate of salary for probationary assistants and the remainder of the positions scheduled as probationary assistants’ positions will be filled by suitable assistants at a salary of Grade 1. Teachers employed as relieving teachers will be paid according to the scale for relieving teachers, while certificated teachers in Grade 0 schools will be paid at the scale rate for relieving teachers. Of the remaining teachers a certain number will be approved under ordinary regulations as additional assistants at the salary of Grade 1. The surplus will be employed where they are most urgently required and naid at the scale rate for relieving teachers.”
