Southland Women's Club

GARDEN CIRCLE. On Thursday afternoon between 40 and 50 members of the Garden Circle of the Southland Women’s Club motored out to the Waimahaka Estate, where they were met by Mrs A. S. Holms and conducted by her over the lovely and spacious grounds which are a picture at present. Vivid flowering rhododendrons made an attractive sight against the green lawns, and beds of tulips, polyanthus and other spring flowers were greatly admired. The orchard, which is a mass of blossom, and the hothouses with their show of blooms caused much favourable comment. Afternoon tea was served in the drawing-room and hall and later a walk through the native bush was enjoyed. On behalf of those present, Mrs J. G. Macdonald thanked Mrs Holms for her hospitality.
