NEW ZEALAND COASTS
COST OF SURVEY. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, August 19. The cost to the taxpayer of the services to be provided by the New Zealand Government for a survey of the coast will be £lB,OOO per annum and not £300,000. as stated by the Institute of Surveyors, said the Minister for Marine, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe. It is not known what the cost will be to the Imperial Government, but it will probably be twice the cost to the Dominion Government. Mr Cobbe added that all he felt he would be justified in doing in attempting to obtain employment for Nev/ Zealand surveyors is to draw the attention of the Admiralty to the fact that land survey parties, if required, can easily be organized in New Zealand.
