MINER INJURED.
SUSPECT LEAVES DISTRICT. (Per United Press Association.) Dunedin, August 14. Now lying unconscious in the Roxburgh Hospital with serious head injuries,. Robert Faigan, a miner, was, it is alleged, the victim of an assault with a shovel by another miner yesterday. The sv.spect left the district immediately and is believed to have reached Dunedin. When found by a neighbouring settler on his claim on the Molyneux River Faigan was unconscious. A deep, long cut was on his scalp and an arm was also badly cut. A fractured skull is suspected. The assault is believed to have been committed following an argument in which trespass on Faigan’s claim was alleged, the wanted man having worked the adjoining claim for the past year. Faigan, who is aged 55, came to the Miller’s Flat district three years ago from Auckland, where his wife lives.
