GORE HIGH SCHOOL

MEETING OF BOARD. The monthly meeting of the High School Board was held yesterday. The chairman, Mr E. C. Smith, presided over the following members:—Messrs S. Rice, J. Clark, Hugh Mac Gibbon, Hugh Smith, Henry Smith, R. L. Byars and A. T. Newman. An application from the Gore Amateur Athletic Club for the use of the hostel grounds for training purposes was received. The secretary was instructed to make inquiries as to the exact requirement of the club. The report of the rector, Mr Joseph Hunter, stated that the attendance had been very regular, and good progress had been made during the term. The roll now stood at. 118 boys and 112 girls, a total of 230. Inter-school sports fixtures had been played with Southland Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools, Southland Technical College and South Otago High Schools during the term. The term examinations commenced on Monday and would be completed on Friday morning. The school would close for the term holidays on August
