MAN’S ARM AMPUTATED. (Per United Press Association.) New Plymouth, August 12. With his right arm almost severed by a circular saw, George Robertson, aged 56, of Rahoutu, was admitted to the New Plymouth Public Hospital yesterday morning. It was necessary to amputate the arm and his condition is now considered to be satisfactory. FALL FROM STAIRCASE. (Per United Press Association.) Ashburton, August 12 James Goodsail, aged 23, a membei of the Oamaru Savage Club’s party which is on a visit to Ashburton, slipped from the top of the staircase in the Hotel Somerset on Saturday night and fell 15 feet to the floor. He sustained a fracture at the base of the skull. He was admitted to hospital and his condition is serious. BODY FOUND IN HARBOUR. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, August 12, The body of a man aged about 60, which has not been identified, was found floating in the harbour yesterday just off Pipitea Wharf. He was of good build with grey hair, going bald, a prominent nose, blue eyes and no teeth. He had a scar on the right shin and was wearing a suit made in Auckland. The body appeared to have been in the water only about 24 hours. CAR OVERTURNS. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, August 12. A sedan motor overturned on the main road just north of Kaitoke late on Saturday afternoon. The driver, Mr L. Magee, and his wife had narrow escapes as the car was completely burned, and they had to be rescued through a hole which two men cut in the hood of the car. Magee received cuts about the head and burns on the face. One of the rescuers also received burns on the hands. _________
