DUAL VOTING
FORMER MAYOR CONVICTED.
(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 10.20 p.m.) Sydney, August 12. John Joseph Connelly, aged 49, a former Mayor of the suburb of Waterloo, and a leading figure in local political affairs, was convicted at the Quarter Sessions to-day of dual voting at the Waterloo municipal elections in December. He was bound over to be of good behaviour for twelve months and directed to refrain from entering an hotel bar during that period. Connelly’s defence was that he had been drinking on election day and had no knowledge of voting twice.
