STAPLE FIBRE
INCREASED PRODUCTION. COMPARISON WITH 1934. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 8.40 p.m.) London, August 12. The Berlin correspondent of the Financial News says that the world production of staple fibre during the last few months increased even faster than that of artificial silk. A total of 28,540 metric tons was produced in the first six months of 1935, representing an increase of 75 per cent, over the torresponding period of 1934. Japan produced 11,350 tons, Italy 7560, Germany 5520, France 1475 and Britain 1455. Further increases are planned. The Financial Times says that official intervention reduced the vistra fibre price from 2 marks a kilogram to 1.80 marks. Monopoly and cartel agreements between the producers and the consumers have been suspended. Manufacturers, who are pledged to use German vistra, now have yarn nearer the Italian and Japanese prices ruling in Hamburg.
