Gore Rotary Club. An address was given at the Gore Rotary Club luncheon yesterday by Dr, S. F. Hunter on Benjamin Kidd’s book “The Science of Power.” Dr Hunter was cordially thanked for his address. o—O—o Children’s Club. Six youths appeared before Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., at a sitting of the Children’s Court at Gore yesterday morning on a charge of breaking electric insulators. The Magistrate admonished and discharged the boys and issued a serious warning that in the event of further offences he would order a thrashing. o—O—o Chimney Fire. Charged at the Gore Police Court yesterday before Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., Robert Chatterton was fined 5/and ordered to pay 10/- costs on a charge of allowing a chimney to be on fire in Milton street on August 3. o—O—o . Magistrate’s Court Judgments. At a sitting of the Gore Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., judgment was given by default for plaintiffs with costs in the following civil claims:—Murray and Robertson v. A. C. Anderson (Temuka) for £l3 19/2 and costs £? 14/-; United Trading and Manufacturing Co. v. W. H. Garrick (Gore) for £4 11/9 and costs £1 4/6; J. A. S. Aitken v. George Richards (Heriot) for £1 0/2 and costs 12/-. o—O—o Charge of Theft. Before Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., at Gore, yesterday afternoon Raymond John Sharp was charged with breaking and entering yesterday the dwelling at Mataura of Francis Daniel Cowan and stealing therefrom £8 in money, the property of Osmund Cowan. On the application of Sergeant H. Fryer he was remanded to appear at Gore on August 26.
