RELIEF WORKS
WELLINGTON CITY. STANDARD RATES OF PAY. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington. July 22. Following a conference with the Minister of Employment recently the City Council to-day received a_ letter from the Unemployment Board offering in respect to certain loan works a subsidy of 12 per cent, on the capital cost or alternatively 35/- per man weekly in respect to each married man taken from the Unemployment register. The council expressed gratification on the board’s offer which was accepted, and it was decided that approximately 300 of the most efficient workers should be employed for the remainder of the financial year at full standard rates. c
