SKATING FEAT
ROUND MOUNT EGMONT. (Per United Press Association.) New Plymouth, July 21. Stanley Mockford, of Tuakau, Auckland, on Saturday evening completed his circuit of Mount Egmont on skates. The journey of over 100 miles on bitumen roads was covered within four days. He had intended to sleep in sheds or in the open, but the people en route took a keen interest in his exploit and provided him with food and shelter. The difficulty of descending the steeper hills was solved by the skater securing a heavy pine branch which he straddled and used as a brake.
