FINAL DAY OF SHOW SPECIAL PRIZES There was again a large attendance for the second and concluding day of the Southland Kennel Club’s Show in the old Garrison Hall on Saturday. With increased entries, higher quality dogs and greater public interest, the show was a distinct improvement on the club’s first annual fixture lust December. A breeder has set a lead in the presentation of additional trophies_ by giving a prize for annual competition equivalent in value to the prize money he secured at last week’s show. The Mayoress (Mrs John Miller) was the judge at a children’s fancy dress parade in the afternoon, '.through the generosity of Mr H. Hinchcliff, of Wellington, all those taking part received prizes. The show concluded with a parade of prize-winners in the evening, when the prizes were presented by the president of the club, Mr Robert Stout, and Mrs Stout. The Remaining Awards. The following are the special prizes and trophies, awarded on Saturday morning:— T. F. Gilkison Challenge Cup, presented by Mr T. F. Gilkison for best dog or bitch in the show.—Mr T. Hodge’s black cocker spaniel Rossmount Scott. Hope-Pearson Challenge Cup, presented by Mr R. E. Hope-Pearson for best opposite sex to winner of previous award.—Mrs B. Hastie’s colonial-bred Alsatian bitch Queen of Gladstone. Rowland Cup, presented by Mr L. Rowland for best wire-haired fox terrier puppy.—Mr J. Richardson’s Carlton Jock. Miss Leila Greig’s (Timaru) challenge trophy for best Alsatian in show. —Mrs B. Hastie’s Queen of Gladstone. M. Winder’s Cup, presented by Mr M. Winders for best sporting dog.— Mr T. Hodge’s black cocker spaniel Rossmount Scott. Christchurch Toy Dog and Cat Club’s Cup for best toy.—Mrs L. Barton’s Sydney Silkie bitch Mangawhare Baby. Robert Stout Challenge Cup, presented by Mr R.
