LOCAL HAIRDRESSERS
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. The sixth annual meeting of the Southland Hairdressers’ and Tobacconists’ Association took place last Thursday evening, there being a good attendance of members of the trade. Various remits were discussed in preparation for the annual conference of the federation which takes place in Wellington next month. The election of office-bearers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: President, Mr James Boyd; vice-presidents, Messrs G. Streatfield and A. Sheed; committee, Messrs Hayles, Upjohn, Steans, Bell, Blomfield and Miss Henshaw.
A letter from the Department of Labour was received stating that the fixing of the closing hours recently requisitioned by hairdressers and tobacconists in the combined district of Invercargill had been gazetted and became effective on June 17 last.
