LORNEVILLE STOCK SALE. FAT VALUES MUCH THE SAME. Miserable weather conditions had their effect on the sale of stock at the Lorneville yards yesterday, consequently competition was not very keen, and in both fat sections, sheep and cattle, there was practically no change in the values ruling at the last sale. The yardings all round were smaller than those of last week. Following is a comparative table of yardings for the past two sales:— June 18 June 11 Store cattle 69 158 Fat cattle 141 172 Store sheep 493 645 Fat sheep 1358 1551 Yesterday’s yardings included 445 fat lambs 13 dairy cows, and 3 vealers. STORE CATTLE.—There -was a very small yarding in this section, which was comprised mostly of empty cows, there being nothing outstanding offered. There were no steers of outstanding quality, but one pen of good young steers made £2 10/-. Good speyed empty cows realized from £1 2/- to £1 10/-. Poor conditioned sorts sold from 8/- to 12/6. Dairy cows were neglected and practically the whole of the yarding was passed at auction. STORE SHEEP.—The yarding was small. The entry was made up mostly of wether lambs. Good conditioned wether lambs made from 9/6 to 11/3; full and failing mouthed ewes of poor quality from 4/- to 7/10. A pen of ewe lambs met with poor competition and was passed in. A pen of 2-tooth store wethers in light condition was passed in at 14/7.

FAT SHEEP.—There was again a very large yarding, the greater proportion of which consisted of freezing quality ewes. The market maintained about the same tone as last week. Prime quality medium weight wethers made from 25/6 to 27/-, handy weights from 23/- to 24/6 and lighter weights down to 21/-. Unfinished sorts realized down to 19/-. Prime quality young ewes made up to 16/9, good butchers’ weights 12/- to 14/6, and freezing quality round about 10/6. FAT LAMBS.—There was a good entry in the fat lamb section and values were at schedule rates. Prime heavy lambs sold from 23/- to 24/6; good quality 20/6 to 21/6; medium 18/- to 19/6, with light and unfinished down to 16/-.

FAT CATTLE.—The large entry forward contained a goodly proportion of bullocks of good quality. There was a fair demand with few passings. Prime quality bullocks sold up to £9 2/6; good quality, £7 to £8; lighter £5 10/- to £6 5/-; unfinished down to £4 5/-. Good quality cows up to £5; medium £3 10/- to £4 5/-; rough and unfinished down to £2, and aged sorts down to £l. Prime quality medium weight heifers made up to £5 5/-; lighter weights £3 15/- to £4 10/-; and light and unfinished sorts down to £2

At the special horse sale held by Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., at Winton on Saturday there was an entry of over thirty draught mares and geldings and a number of hacks. The bidding was not as keen as at the previous sale, and while there were few outstanding entries, a number of serviceable draughts were submitted. The top price was £39 10/- for a five-year-old mare, while a five-year-old gelding realized £38.. Two six-year-old geldings made £35, an eight-year-old gelding £35, while older horses made from £2O to £3l. Aged and inferior sorts were difficult to dispose of. There was a poor demand for hacks and few sales were made. A quantity of harness and sundries brought full market rates. The stallion Royal Imprint was passed in at auction. MAHAKIPAWA RETURN. The return from Mahakipawa Goldfields Company last week was 18oz of alluvial gold. SYDNEY STOCK EXCHANGE. FRONT RANK INDUSTRIALS STRONG. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.)
