EMPIRE SERVICES « ENORMOUS FLOODLIGHTS FOR AERODROMES SPEEDING UP SCHEME > (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) London, June 16. The Sketch says that over £1,000,009 is being spent in the next two years in equipping the England-Australia air route for continuous night and day flying in preparation for the 1937 speeding up scheme. Work has commenced at Karachi where an enormous floodlight is being erected on a steel tower. It will light an area of 10,000 square yards and vzill equal daylight. Karachi will also bave a beacon visible for 100 miles. Electric boundary lights will facilitate landing. Similar plans are being prepared for Allahabad, Calcutta, and Rangoon, and the chain of aerodromes in Siam will be increased.
