Mr and Mrs H. Farr, Rakaia, were renewing acquaintances in the township during the week. A very enjoyable “flag five hundred” evening was held in the supper room of the town hall on Friday in aid of funds for the tennis and croquet clubs’ fun fair, the object being to raise funds to form a new croquet lawn and to liquidate the debt on the tennis pavilion. There was a good attendance, and the winners were Mrs G: B. Burns, Messrs H. D. Gazzard and J. McKinnon. Following were amongst those present: Mesdames G. B. Bums, A. C. Harrington, Hall, Saxelby, Mclvor, Silverwood, Sutherland,- Gazzard, Irving, White, Ballam and Janson, Misses Reay Campbell, R. Couper, Petrie, J. Stephens, Burns, Stroud, Ryan, R. Campbell, D. O’Brien, M. O’Brien, Shaw, Donnan, Hope and M. Porteous. Messrs H. D. Gazzard, J. McKinnon, White, Macpherson, Campbell, H. C. Harrington, Sutherland, Coulter, J. Gazzard, Patterson, Hope (2), G. Williams, W. Porteous and G. B. Saxelby.
