WAGGONS DERAILED
ACCIDENT AT WAIHOLA. (Per United Press Association.) Dunedin, June 16. At about 6.30 p.m. on Saturday, a mixed train from the south to Dunedin was involved in an accident at the Waihola station. Four waggons were derailed and partly wrecked but three passengers in carriages at the rear of the train were unaffected beyond a slight shaking. The train was slowing down to stop at the station when the accident occurred. It is thought the leading wheels of one of the waggons left the rails about two miles south of Waihola and when the train entered the yards, the other two wheels left the tracks as the truck was crossing the cattle stops, dragging off the four following waggons. It is believed the cause of the wheels leaving the track was the weight of the load being unevenly distributed. A breakdown train had the track cleared by 3 a.m.
