HOSPITAL BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING.

The monthly meeting of the Southland Hospital Board was held yesterday, there being present Mr T. Golden (chairman), Miss H. L. Birss, Mrs A. Henderson, Messrs W. Clark, J. S. A. McDougall, J. W. Miller, J. Miller, A. T. Newman, W. M. Norman, F. Trapski, A. McKenzie and W. Grieve. Prior to the business of the meeting the chairman extended a welcome to Mr Grieve, who in reply said that in seeking election to the board he had had no policy other than to favour the “open” hospital system. The medical superintendent of the Waipiata Sanatorium advised the admission of three patients and the discharge of three during M'.y. All three of the latter were discharged with the disease arrested. Miss M. C. Wilson wrote accepting appointment as assistant-matron at the Southland Hospital. Statistical reports for May were submitted by the medical superintendents under the board’s control. At the Southland Hospital 115 patients remained on April 30, 168 were admitted during the month, 188 were discharged, 6 died and 89 remained on May 31. . , At Gore 32 patients remained on May 1, 50 were admitted during the month, 57 were discharged, 2 died and 29 remained on June 1. , At the Lake County Hospital 12 patients remained on May 1, 5 were admitted during the month, 8 were discharged and 9 remained on June 1. At Lome Infirmary 68 patients remained on May 1, 3 were admitted ing the month, 1 was discharged, 1 died and 69 remained cn June 1.
