ANOTHER BRANCH
NATIONAL POLITICAL FEDERATION. CHRISTCHURCH MEETING. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, June 12. Many supporters of the Reform and United Parties met to-night to organize a Canterbury branch of the National Political Federation, to elect officers and a working committee and to make preliminary arrangements for the general election compaign and for the Lyttelton by-election contest. The Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes was elected president, and the Hon. W. Harward, M.L.C., and Mr H. G. Livingstone vice-presidents. The executive and sub-committees were set up. _ The following resolution was passed: This meeting of the Reform and United Parties wholeheartedly supports the undertaking of the leaders of the parties to form a National Federation and agrees to set up an organization in Canterbury to suppor. the interests of the National Government' candidates. WAIRARAPA SEAT PARTIES CONFER. (Per United Press Association.) Masterton, June 12. A large meeting of the Reform Party, members fully representative of the Wairarapa electorate, was held in Carterton to-night to consider the position arising out of the recent announcement by the Hon. A. D. McLeod, member for Wairarapa, that for health reasons he will not be contesting the seat at the forthcoming general election. _.. The following resolution was carried unanimously: That this meeting of representatives of the Reform Party in the Wairarapa electorate agrees to cooperate with the United Party in the selection of a National Government candidate to contest the seat at the forthcoming election.
