ADORNING A HARP
SEARCH FOR BEAUTIFUL GEMS. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 11. An arrival by the Makura yesterday from Sydney was Mr Prosper Ralston, of Canada, who for some months has been combing the Australian opal fields in search of ggms with which to construct the most beautiful harp in the world. He was in New Zealand some months ago investigating the commercial possibilities of greenstone and paua shells, and has returned with a view to obtaining a certain variety of greenstone, beautifully hued and more or less transparent, for inlaid work on the harp. He believes that the finished harp will be worth £30,000. While in Australia he covered 3500 miles by air, visiting opal mining fields.
