WOMEN TEACHERS
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. At a meeting of the committee of the Women Teachers’ Association held on Monday afternoon Miss E. B. Pay presided over a good attendance. Opportunity was taken of congratulating Miss Baird on receiving the King’s Jubilee Medal. A letter was received from Miss E. Andrews thanking • the Southland branch for its share in the gift given her by the New Zealand Women Teachers’ Association on her retirement irom the office of president. JVliss Baird gave a report on the Dominion Conference, and on the annual conference of the New Zealand Educational Institute, both of which she attended as a Southland delegate. It was decided, to made a special effort to increase the membership of the branch, and to hold a luncheon on Saturday, June 29, to which all women teachers, whether members of the branch or not, would be invited. Misses Morton and Frew were appointed a sub-committee to arrange the programme. It was suggested that Misses Baird and Mackay be asked to report at the function on the conference and that a short talk on the subject of handwork, together Rh an exhibition of specimens of various kinds of handwork, be arranged. A -uggestion that a social function be held monthly was discussed and held over to see what support was accorded the luncheon.
