GIRL CYCLIST KILLED
COLLISION WITH MOTORIST.

Christchurch, June 10. Ngare Dorothea Whitta, aged. 14, of Hagley avenue, died in the Public Hospital at 8 o’clock last evening from injuries she received in an accident three hours earlier at the corner of Hagley street and Deans avenue, Lower Riccarton. Miss Whitta, who was a daughter of Mr H. B. Whitta, Canterbury cricket selector, was cycling from the avenue into Hagley street when she was struck by a motor car travelling along Hagley street. She was knocked off her machine, and was unconscious when she was taken by a St. John ambulance to the Public Hospital. The motorist involved in the accident was Helen Rose Buchanan, of 39 Fendalton road. It was raining heavily when the collision occurred and visibility was very poor.
