MINISTERIAL. The Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes leaves London by the Maloja on June 28 and is due at Sydney on August 8, states a Wellington Press Association message. Guests at the Grand Hotel include Messrs Maurice H. Henry (Belfast, Ireland), J. C. Marriner (Christchurch) and N. A. Stevenson (Dunedin). Mr John Corder, chairman of the Waimea County Council, was yesterday elected chairman of the Cawthron Institute Trust Board, states a Press Association message from Nelson. The Rev. A. R. Wallace (formerly of Invercargill), who has had temporary charge of the parish of Uruti-cum-Mokau, North Taranaki, has been appointed to the parish of St. Peter, Raglan, South Auckland, and will commence his new duties in July. Mr R. Martin-Smith, of Wellington, has been appointed New Zealand University Rugby selector in succession to Mr J. N, Millard, says a Wellington Press Association message. Mr Mar-tin-Smith is an ex-Wellington and New Zealand University representative player. Dr C. E. Dolling, of Adelaide, a member of the Australian Cricket Selection Committee, and Mrs Dolling, who is a daughter of Mr E. S. Clarke, of Woodhaugh, are at present staying in Dimedin after a visit to Great Britain and Europe. They will remain there for a fortnight before their return to Adelaide. Reference to the retirement from the works staff of Mr James Tannock after 25 years of service was made at the City Council table last evening by Councillor W. M. C. Denham, chairman of the Works Committee. A suggestion that he be granted a month’s salary in lieu of absence was referred to the Finance Committee.
