NIGHTCAPS NOTES
CONVENT BUILDING FUND. (From Our Correspondent.)' The splendid effort which has w been in progress for the past three months to raise funds to build a new Convent is being concluded by a grand carnival. The opening took place in the Coronation Hall on Thursday evening and the carnival was continued on Friday night and concluded on Saturday evening. The hall was decorated for the carnival, the important space being filled by stalls done in the colours of the various princesses. The districts taking part in the effort with their colours and secretaries were as follows: Nightcaps (red), Mr C. F. Hunt; Heddon Bush , (white), Mr L. Cairns; Wreys Bush (blue and black), Mr T. Duggan; Ohai (black and white), Mr E. W, Hunt; Wairio (green), Mrs Forde. The stalls were laden with beautiful needlework, art ware, general handwork and goods and produce of great variety. The many workers connected with the stalls reported brisk business. The supper rooms were well patronized, the oyster saloon not being overlooked. Side-show alley, with its variety of attractions for young and old was a hive of industry every evening. On Saturday night the result of the contest was announced as follows: Miss Nora Egan (Wreys Bush), £336; Miss Mary Laidlaw (Nightcaps), £282; Miss Peggy Roche (Wairio), .3221; Miss Rhoda Boyle (Heddon Bush), .3157; Miss Pat Hornsby (Ohai), £92.
