Mrs R. Wilson-Brown, Dunedin, is the guest of Mrs W. Williams, Elizabeth street. Mrs J. E. Rogers, Irk street, returned last Tuesday from Fairlie, where she was the guest of her daughter, Mrs G, Armitage. Mr and Mrs G. C. Hamilton, Albany street, journeyed to Dunedin on Saturday with the Eastern Southland hockey team. Miss Dawn Smith returns to Dunedin this week. Miss Mollie Fisher, Devon street, returned last week from Dunedin, where she attended the Columba College 21st birthday celebrations. Mrs W. Williams, Elizabeth street, was hostess at afternoon tea last Thursday for her guest, Mrs R. WilsonBrown, Dunedin. Miss Nancy Preece and her guest, Miss Dorothy Woodroff, Auckland, re? turn to Dunedin this week. Messrs J. and C. McGregor-McGil-livray and Miss McGregor-McGillivray, who have been the guests of Mrs Colin McGregor, Broughton street, left on Thursday last for Hastings. Mrs J. Brown, Onslow street, was hostess at bridge on Wednesday afternoon and evening of last week, when those playing were Mesdames H. A. Price, W. Kirk, R. B. Bannerman, J. M. Boyne, C. R. Green, A. J. Hawke, D. M. Cochrane, A. B. Caverhill, J. A. Edwards, R. G. Stokes, R. Allison A. T. Pettigrew, L. N. Glasson, J. Ritchie, F. S. Graham, -G. A. Mac Gibbon, W. Scobie, E. Paterson, G. C. Hamilton, A. Wilson, J. Gardiner, J. Richards, Misses Kathleen Kirk and Molly Rogers. Highest score prizes were won by Mesdames J. M. Boyne, R. B. Bannerman, A. A. Mac Gibbon and E. Paterson. Mrs A. T. Pettigrew, president of the Gore Croquet Club, entertained the members of the committee at afternoon tea at her residence, Ardwick street, on Monday afternoon. Those present were Mesdames G. McLeod, R. W. McCreath, H. R. Robertson, R. P. Neale, A. B. Caverhill, R. J. Telfer, J. Brown and J. Ritchie. The engagement is announced of Dorothea Mary, third daughter of Mrs and the late Mr M. Fitzgerald, Devon street, Gore, to Douglas Archibald, eldest son of Mr and Mrs A. Herron Pukerau. There were three tables of contract bridge at the Women’s Club on Friday afternoon, when those playing were Mesdames E. Paterson, F. S. Graham, R. W. McCreath, J. A. Edwards, D. M. Cochrane, J. A. Blaikie, C. R. Green, J. A. S. Aitken, F. Wallis, jun., James Hunter, W. Scobie and L. N. Glasson. Highest scores .were won by Mrs J. Hunter , and F. S. Graham. Mrs H. A. Price, Denton street, entertained at two enjoyable bridge parties on Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon of last week, when her guests were Mesdames H. C. Mac Gibbon, H. H. Doughty, D. Harvey, F. V. Piper, A. J. Hawke, J. Brown, W. Kirk, A. B. Caverhill, R. Wilson-Brown (Dunedin). W. Williams, J. M. Boyne, J. A. Blaikie. C. R. Greed, J. E. Rogers, R. B. Bannerman, F. Wallis, jun., G. L. The members of the music circle of the Women’s Club were hostesses at an enjoyable social afternoon on - Tuesday of last week. During the afternoon items were contributed by Miss Woods (Riversdale) solo, “Not Understood.” Mrs D. M. McLeod, pianoforte solo. Mrs J. A. Edwards and Miss Winnie Gresham, pianoforte duet, and the Glee Party. “To a Wild Rose” and “Nymphs and Shepherds.” Among those present were Mesdames E. F. Selby. R. W. McCreath, J. A. Blaikie, C.
