YACHTING MISHAPS
ENDEAVOUR DISMASTED. RACE WON BY YANKEE. (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, June 6. Mr T. O. M. Sopwith’s famous yacht Endeavour was dismasted and Astra had a steward washed overboard and drowned during a race for J class yachts at Southend regatta to-day, the first event in British waters in which the American yacht Yankee was competing. Endeavour was leading when the accident happened. She was taken in tow by a pleasure steamer off the Mause lightshio. Yankee reached home ahead of Valsheda, the only other competitor, and was awarded the race.
