HOCKEY GUARANTORS.

To the Editor. Sir.—Some time ago we heard a lot from the Southland Hockey Association about the desirability of having the Indian hockey team down here to show us the way the game should be played. So sure were they of the value of such a visit that they approached, per medium of the Press, public spirited citizens to guarantee the expenses of the trip. The necessary guarantee was forthcoming and the Indians arrive this week. For some time past I have enquired about the possibility of booking seats in the grandstand; but have been given to understand that this will not be possible, though some 60 seats have been reserved—l presume for officials of the Hockey Association. Now sir, surely those who made this visit possible, Xre deserving of sorhe special consideration—one asks only for preferential booking—at the hands of the Hockey Association. Of course we realize there is no possibility of any of us being called upon to pay any part of our guarantee, as the gate ..insurance

will more than cover that, while a fine day will show a very handsome profit to the association. The final point which I should like to make, sir, is this: Having served our purpose the Hockey Association has no further use for us at present, but I for one, will turn a deaf ear when future appeals for guarantees are made, in the absence of any recognition of our present assistance.—I am, UU '’ ONLY A GUARANTOR.
