DAIRY BOARD
FARMERS’ REPRESENTATIONS.
MINISTER’S REPLY.
(Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 8.
The Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. C. E. Macmillan) has replied to the Dominion Executive of the Farmers’ Union that the matter of one of the Government nominees on the Dairy Board being a Meat Board representative has been given further consideration. It appeared that the arrangement by legislation passed last session would go far to bring about co-ordination between the boards, and he suggested that the matter should be left over in the meantime. He intended to go into the general question with the Executive Commission of Agriculture later when the position as regards the exports of primary produce became clearer. Mr Macmillan also replied with regard to the Diamond Black moth, advising that arrangements are being made' with the Imperial Entomological Institute to carry out investigational work in the Northern Hemisphere to ascertain what parasites of the moth are likely to prove effective in New Zealand. This would require at least a year before a decision could be reached as to whether or not importations would be warranted.
