PROFESSIONAL GOLF

THE LEEDS TOURNAMENT. COTTON WINS FINAL. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) London, June 8. The final of the Leeds professional golf tournament was won by T. H. Cotton, who defeated P. Alliss by 3 up and 2 to play. The final was fought out in a gale, Cotton reversing the verdict of their last meeting in 1933 when Alliss won by 4 and 3. To-day Alliss was three down at the thirteenth in the morning, but on the homeward run played sound golf in the teeth of a terrific wind squall and squared the match at the seventeenth. Cotton recovered the head at the eighteenth. In the afternoon Alliss was one up at- the twentyseventh, but tired. Cotton, cleverly using the wind, was dormy three. When approaching the thirty-fourth green his ball struck and knocked out a spectator near the green and rebounded, enabling him to hole an easy putt for the half, which gave him the match.

Details of the earlier rounds will be found on page 11.
